Chapter Thirteen

Scott’s A Coward

I was a fucking coward. There’s one hell of a truth to that. Sometimes, I wish I could just forget about pushing her away from me so I wouldn’t be mean to her.

Right after I held Kelsey in my arms and confessed how I couldn’t keep away from her, I suddenly feared staying home with her. I told her then, and once more after we had managed to go back to the house, that I had a meeting with a few people and that I would be back soon to be with her. I lied.

I was stunned at how she held me. It was what I feared. I knew I led her on. I wasn’t lying about not being able to resist her, but I didn’t want her to know I felt that way. What if she fell for me? What if she begged me to stay, just because I already had sex with her twice? What if I wanted to stay, too?

I stopped for a moment, thought, and then shook my head. Hell, no. I wouldn’t stay. I wouldn’t stay, even if Seth rose from his grave.

I already built my life all around the people I met in Europe, the women who always agreed to sleep with me whenever I wanted them to and the men I shared my glorious visions with. I would never let one girl ruin it all.

Worse, she was my brother’s. She was Seth’s and even though I had desired her since college days, it was nothing but…shall we say…carnal, for me. She was glorious to touch…fine…to fuck. She was glorious to fuck. She could be nothing more to me than that.

“How is it?” I was walking down the stairs to get to the laboratory, where I only allowed two men to work with me.

“Too much Epimedium in this one.” Doctor Grost, one of the best in the company, was testing the failed sex pill to see what was wrong with its chemical composition. “I say he should have just gone with Horny Goat Weed, the best known aphrodisiac among the genus.”

“Can we do that now?” I was fixing my lab coat as I asked.

“You are not thinking about creating another sex pill, are you?” He looked at me suspiciously. Father already mandated that no one recreated the failed pill.

I really wanted to. “I believe I made clear my intentions on my first day, Doctor Grost. I wanted you to find out where they went wrong with it so we could produce a much better one.”

I took his report from the table and studied it as he continued with his work.

Like I said, I thought the man behind this, my father’s former Vice President, was a fucking genius but a failure, nonetheless. The pill fascinated me. I was unable to forget the fact that the company never tried to re-create and mass-produce such a gift to mankind. Perhaps it was supposed to be my gift to mankind.

I was going to stay for a year, all right.
